Hohe Tauern Festival once again inspires the Oberpinzgau region
Under the motto "Coming as strangers. Return as friends." the 4th edition of the Hohe Tauern Festival took place in Oberpinzgau from October 9 to 13, 2024 and attracted visitors to the region with a series of musical highlights.
The audience was particularly impressed by the realization that local folk music and works from the classical repertoire not only harmonize perfectly with each other, but have always inspired each other. Equally remarkable were the wonderful encounters between the artists on and off stage. A highlight of the festival was undoubtedly the festive concert in the Mittersill parish church, where soprano Miriam Kutrowatz and baritone Rafael Fingerlos enchanted the audience with their outstanding performances.
The festival weekend kicked off on Friday with the "Schubertiade"at Schloss Mittersill. In the Bösendorfer Hall, KS Michael Schade ignited a veritable firework display of his vocal artistry. The songs of the young artists from the Kammersänger's master class and the sensitive piano accompaniment by Justus Zeyen were received with particular enthusiasm, which was acknowledged with long-lasting, frenetic applause.
Another highlight was the festive concert on Saturday in the Mittersill parish church. The program included works by Mozart and Beethoven, which were masterfully interpreted by the Hohe Tauern Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Rubén Dubrovsky. The classical music stars Miriam Kutrowatz and Rafael Fingerlos - the latter from Lungau - impressed the audience with their charming and technically brilliant performances. The audience was equally impressed by the melodious performances of the Mittersill male triad.
The end of the festival on Sunday was just as festive: in the morning, the doughnut festival took place at the Felberturm in Mittersill, where the focus was not only on traditional music, but also on culinary delicacies from the Pinzgau region.
The grand finale was the brilliant concert by the Bach Consort Vienna at the Samerstall in Niedernsill. Under the direction of artistic director Rubén Dubrovsky, star tenor Francisco Brito, who had traveled from Italy, enchanted the audience with passionate folk music from Argentina that reflected the roots of European baroque music. The enthusiastic audience thanked him with thunderous applause and a great atmosphere.
The fourth edition of the Hohe Tauern Festival would not have been possible in this outstanding quality without the support of sponsors and supporters. We would therefore like to thank everyone who made this cultural event possible, as well as the ever-growing audience and the festival's loyal friends, sponsors and supporters.
