Martin Buchmann
Martin Buchmann discovered his passion for music at an early age, which led him to consistently pursue his education in this field. He began his musical career at the Musikvolksschule Leonding, continued at the Musikhauptschule St. Florian and finally perfected his skills at the Musikgymnasium in Linz. During these formative school years, he received a comprehensive musical education with lessons in piano, clarinet, flute and oboe.

Martin gained his first stage experience as a soloist with the St. Florian Boys' Choir, where he appeared as the second boy in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Theater an der Wien, the Landestheater Salzburg and the Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg. In 2008, he appeared at the Wiener Festwochen in Wolfgang Rihm's opera Jakob Lenz, where he played one of the two children.
His studies took him to the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, where he performed the role of Papageno for the first time as a baritone at the Theater an der Rott and at the university itself. In 2014, he was awarded second prize at the national competition "Prima la musica", which paved the way for him to study for a bachelor's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
Martin continued his training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and completed his studies at the Haute École de Musique Vaud Valais Fribourg under Frédéric Gindraux with a master's degree in vocal pedagogy. Since September 2022, he has been deepening his studies at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna in the master's course Lied and Oratorio under the guidance of KS Birgid Steinberger and Michail Lanskoi.
During his academic career, Martin has had the opportunity to hone his skills under the guidance of renowned teachers such as Thomas Hampson, Adrian Eröd, Sandrine Piau, Kurt Widmer, Ian Bostridge, Stephan MacLeod, Giancarlo Andretta, Alessandra Rossi, Bruno de Simone and Claudia Visca.
In addition to solo appearances, Martin has also attracted attention in various opera productions, including as the man with the mule in Carl Orff's Die Kluge, as Tsaretsky in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and as one of the two policemen in the European premiere of Erich Zeisl's Leonce and Lena. His most recent roles include Angeloe in Puccini's Tosca and Tom in Verdi's Masked Ball.
Away from the stage, Martin Buchmann is also a dedicated singing teacher and choir director, passing on his knowledge and passion for music to future generations of singers.
