Powerful cultural impulse from the Pinzgau fascinates with quality and sophistication
(Mittersill, October 3, 2022) The Hohe Tauern Festival took place last weekend at various venues in front of around 700 visitors. Director Martin Pichl: "We have succeeded in sending a strong cultural signal from the Pinzgau region. Thanks to our sponsors and the support of the Pinzgau Regional Association, we will establish this event as a special kind of music festival that impresses with its quality and sophistication. Our aim is to combine folk culture with classical music at the highest level."
Rubén Dubrovsky, the artistic director of the festival and director of the Bach Consort Vienna as well as designated chief conductor of the Munich Gärtnerplatztheater, gave a concert with the Kammerphilharmonie Hohe Tauern, the "Festival Orchestra in Residence" and musicians from the region.
Schubertiade with Michael Schade and soloists from the master class to kick things off
The auditorium at Schloss Mittersill was filled to capacity. Chamber singer Michael Schade enchanted with charm and sympathy. He was accompanied on the Bösendorfer by the internationally sought-after pianist Justus Zeyen. The graduates of the master class led by Schade, accompanied on the concert grand piano by US-American Lisa Gonnella, also delighted the audience and surprised them with a traditional folk song from Carinthia at the end of the concert evening.
The festive concert in the Mittersill parish church
The festive concert in the Mittersill parish church was also very well attended. Instead of soprano Nikola Hillebrand, who was unable to perform due to illness, the young mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz, who was released at short notice by the Vienna State Opera, performed brilliantly with the Hohe Tauern Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Rubén Dubrovsky. The Kunderbunt children's choir led the way from traditional folk culture with the Little Night Music to Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor. The sound quality and acoustics in the church were impressive and an experience in themselves.
Weyerhof - Traditional folk music garnished with culinary delights
A cozy tavern atmosphere with authentic folk tunes were on the program of the Sunday matinee at the Boutiquehotel Weyerhof in Bramberg. Gentlemen from the Mittersill Liedertafel, ladies from the Dreiklang vocal ensemble, the Kalcher family band and a folk duo took turns with their performances. A unique combination of alpine melodies, accompanied by culinary delicacies.
Finest jazz in the Samerstall
The concert by BreinSchmidGansch on Sunday evening in the Samerstall in Niedernsill was simply overwhelming. The unusual trio with Georg Breinschmid (double bass), Benjamin Schmid (violin) and Thomas Gansch (trumpet) enchanted the audience with their extravagance and fascinating virtuosity.

Hohe Tauern Festival greets you with its New Year's concert
Full of optimism and with timpani and trumpets into the New Year.
Wonderful New Year's concert by the Blås Symphony Orchestra at Mittersill Castle.
In strict compliance with all applicable corona regulations, a wonderful New Year's concert was held in the festive setting of Schloss Mittersill on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Under the patronage of the newly founded Hohe Tauern Festival, the Blås Symphony Orchestra started the New Year with timpani and trumpets, but above all full of optimism.
Since 2009, the six musicians of Symphoniker Blås, all members of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, have been celebrating the Austro-Bohemian brass music tradition with virtuoso arrangements of well-known melodies - ranging from marches and waltzes to film music and jazz.
Impressed by the success of the New Year's Concert and full of anticipation for the first edition of the Hohe Tauern Festival in fall 2022, the participating artists, sponsors (Mittersill Kultur) and the Oberpinzgau Regional Association wish all Pinzgau residents a healthy and successful New Year.
